  8. This was probably an indication that the whole surf thing was pretty much over, rather than a comment on Jan & Dean. The Beach Boys left surf songs behind in '63 and Ride the Wild Surf would be the last surf hit (unless you want to count New York's a Lonely Town by the Tradewinds in early '65, but that was more of a novelty song).4/5(8).
